A few pebbles for the pond . . . .
To live content with small things;
To seek elegance rather than luxury, and refinement rather than fashion;
To be worthy, not respectable;
To listen to stars and birds, and to babes with an open heart;
To bear all cheerfully, do all bravely, await occasion, hurry never –
In a word, to let the spiritual, unbidden and unconscious grow up through the common. — William Henry Channing
love is the voice under all silences,
the hope which has no opposite in fear;
the strength so strong mere force is feebleness:
the truth more first than sun more last than star
— e.e.cummings
We sit together,
the mountain & I
. . . until only the
mountain remains.
— Li Po
Inspiring words to start my day Deborah!
Me too! Glad you liked.
Sure do! Welcome.
Beautiful poems and reminders. Thanks Deborah.
You are welcome, glad you enjoyed.
The photo speaks to me…circles are a theme for me during this COVID time and while others might see cool circular ripples I see a living venn diagram montage of circles.
Have a great week, Deborah.
I love your insight into the image, and so glad you brought it up.
I see in these poems objects of contemplation which when dropped like pebbles into the “pond” of the mind create ripples of insights leading outward and intersecting with each other to create ever more intricate patterns for further contemplation. All leading it would seem to a more complete and ever-expanding understanding of the world and each other.
I’ve always loved the thought of intersectionality and cross-pollination–how music, for instance, intersects with and pollinates art, dance, writing, and vice versa. How science and religion intersect, politics and spirituality. How one life intersects with and influences another. One blog post creates a ripple effect outward into the blogosphere.
This web of life, this interbeing–fascinating!
There we go…same wave (ripple) length for sure.
😎
I love your thinking here Deborah and your way with words. Beautifully said in a clear and understandable way. Deep, but not too deep.
Thank you, Ginny!
Amen! May these inspiring thoughts ripple through and flow out of us, touching and encircling the world at large. Contentment is such a gift, and no small thing in a time of great stress and suffering. Thank you for sharing, Deborah, and giving us an insight into a better way to live. Bless you! x ❤️
